This textbook embraces the rather expansive area of the effects produced by ionizing radiations (x-rays, γ-rays, beta particles, neutrons, etc) at some time following exposure. It reviews a major portion of the pertinent literature published during 1965 and 1966. The author limits his review to somatic effects (ie, exclusive of perturbations visited upon germ plasm). The text is divided into two major parts: part 1 reviews late effects in whole organisms, particularly mammals, and part 2 reviews late effects in tissues, cells, and macromolecules. A third part presents a brief comparison of changes in aging as compared with some effects of ionizing radiation. The strongest point of this book is its bibliography. Those who have not followed this field closely will find little difficulty in tracing the important events in SN - 0003-9926 M3 - doi: 10.1001/archinte.1969.00300220127042 UR - http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archinte.1969.00300220127042 ER -
