N2  - As Professor Sherlock writes in her foreword, the value of liver biopsy "depends on the histological interpretation of the biopsy specimen obtained." This book is designed to help those with limited experience who are obliged to interpret few specimens a year, or those who wish to learn more about what the liver looks like in disease. For both groups the book will be very useful. It is complete, beautiful illustrated, and adequately documented with source material. For those interested, a chapter on staining techniques is included in which a few of the well-established methods are described.A very short chapter on electron microscopy concludes the book. The remainder is devoted to descriptions of liver biopsy specimens, beginning with those of the normal liver. The spectrum of liver diseases in which liver biopsy may be helpful is complete, well-written, and profusely illustrated by 89 black and white photomicrographs and 16 color
