N2  - Oft times authors are kind enough to indicate for whom they have written a text: medical students, nurses, graduate students, etc. I have an inherent bias concerning combined textbooks, for certainly either physiology or biochemistry can stand single (or multiple) volume treatment. It would be most helpful to a reviewer to know for whom this present work is intended. As will be noted, most of the material is presented at the graduate-student level, but there is a small mix of almost elementary information that seems strangely inappropriate. I found many laudable features which would urge me to acquire it for my library. The references alone are probably worth the purchase price for they are extremely up to date and pertinent. In several places where I felt the discussion in the text was skimpy or inadequate, I found bibliographic listings which I know would take me to the most germane, current
