And it should be borne in mind that comparisons, while valid, are not necessarily parallel. One reason is that Annual Review of Pharmacology is published yearly, while the previous edition of Recent Advances in Pharmacology was published six years ago.The subjects chosen for such review volumes often coincide with the current interest in a drug, a therapy, or a mechanism. Yet timeliness may not be a virtue as nothing can be so obsolete as an item that may have been the current rage at the time it was written. For that reason, new
