N2  - This is a delightful book on a subject that interests internists and surgeons. It covers basic considerations and clinical classifications of deranged arterial supply to the brain. It includes a special chapter on bruits heard over the carotid artery, and another on diagnostic methods.There is a brief resume of the technique of carotid endarterectomy. To round out the picture, the book furnishes information on the end results of carotid endarterectomy in various groups of patients affected by cerebrovascular insufficiency.It is still a surprise to me to be assisting a vascular surgeon performing this type of surgery in a community hospital. The procedure of four-vessel radiographic visualization has become so commonplace in our hospital that I can easily recall a number of patients: several who were discovered not to be suitable candidates for surgery; others who had undesirable sequela of aortic and great-vessel visualization; and a few dramatic instances
