It has a distinguished background. Contributors include thirty-four men and women from leading medical schools and clinics in the United States, Canada, England, France, Belgium, Ireland, New Zealand, Denmark, and Germany. During final preparation the book was reviewed chapter by chapter in weekly seminars of the Physical Medicine Department at the Yale University School of Medicine. It has received widespread acceptance, now being used as a standard text in many physical therapy schools, and as a standard reference in many physical medicine residencies. The approach seems complete and detailed, with sections ranging from discussions of neuromuscular physiology and anatomy, specific measurements and methods of examination and evaluation, and detailed approaches to exercises in many specific orthopedic and neurologic conditions, plus special sections devoted to occupational therapy, pulmonary cardiovascular, ocular, and obstetrical situations.
