These I have duplicated to circulate to members of the departmental staff, residents, interns, and fellows. Dr. Brandon Lush, who is the Senior Medical Officer of the Medical Research Council in Great Britain, likewise has gathered together, edited, and now published a series of essays, speeches, and addresses which illustrate broadly the concepts of medicine, concepts of health and disease, and concepts of medical research. These are the several aspects of this interesting collection of essays by British and American scientists and physicians. Because Lush had received much inspiration from reading Osler's "Aequanimitas" and Ryle's "Natural History of Disease" when he was an undergraduate student, he was led thereby to probe more deeply into the meaning and methods of medicine.
