There is no effort to expunge, rearrange, or otherwise alter the papers as Osler wrote them. This book was first put out by the Oxford University Press, under the aegis of the Osier Club, in England. Six of the sixteen essays are biographical, and many of the others are full of allusions to famous historical people—doctors, humanists, scholars—and cranks. Each of these essays is worth the time of reading and rereading, and even the poorest student should be able to afford the modest price.
