N2  - The successful treatment of pneumococcal pneumonia with oral phenoxymethyl penicillin (penicillin V) has been reported by several investigators.1-3 Because encouraging results of therapy observed during a single season are often not confirmed by study over a longer period of time it is always reassuring to report the repetition of therapeutic trials which at first show promise. The present report, therefore, adds our experience of 1956-1957 to that of 1955-1956, which was the basis of our first communication on this subject.1 The second year, in general, confirmed the initial experience.Plan of Study 
    The plan of study was similar to that of the first year of the program. All patients with pneumonia admitted to the Cincinnati General Hospital were screened by one of us and included in the study with the following exceptions: (1) those suspected of having nonpneumococcal pneumonia; (2) those unable to take oral medication, usually because
