Wartman, continues to be one of the outstanding books in this series because he manages to add so much personal and individual flavor to what might seem offhand a rather dry and dreary topic for an internist. This particular book is notable for his interesting description of a quinquennial brain-dusting tour of England and the Continent, his extracts from the Widdicombe file, which adorns the pages of The Lancet from time to time, a dash of Gilbert and Sullivan, and other items, which make the book a pleasure to read through. This, of course, is a bonus in addition to the wide variety of articles abstracted and the reproductions of many effective photographs and illustrations.
