Because of the high quality of the study, I was distressed to read in the abstract the following: "There were also fewer hospitalizations, surgeries, and falls among women in the walking group, although these differences were not statistically significant." Later the text states that ". . . although not statistically significant, the walkers had higher sport index kilocalories scores than the controls. . . .
