In the May 24, 2010, issue of the Archives, Rangel et al1 reported a retrospective study evaluating the apparent lack of an association between the use of β-blockers (BBs) in chest pain patients with recent cocaine use and adverse effects. We thought it was a well-designed study with thoughtful comments and a justified conclusion that the use of “β-blockers [in] patients with cocaine-associated chest pain appears to be safe and may even be beneficial.”1(p879)
