TY - JOUR T1 - Overuse of health care: Where are the data? AU - Katz MH Y1 - 2012/01/23 N1 - 10.1001/archinternmed.2011.1253 JO - Archives of Internal Medicine SP - 178 EP - 178 VL - 172 IS - 2 N2 - What is most striking about this report is how hard the authors searched for data on overuse of health care and how little they found. They reviewed 21 years of the medical literature and evaluated 114 831 publications, yet found only 172 articles that addressed overuse of health care. If we are to improve health care in the United States, we must know as much about overuse of health care as we do about underuse of health care. This article gets us started.
