TY - JOUR T1 - DIsclosure of outside income—reply AU - Freshwater M Y1 - 2011/11/14 N1 - 10.1001/archinternmed.2011.523 JO - Archives of Internal Medicine SP - 1862 EP - 1864 VL - 171 IS - 20 N2 - Our research was on public disclosure, not internal disclosure. We could only verify data on the university's public Web site, not data Dean Goldschmidt may have provided privately. The screenshot (Figure 1) proves that as of July 18, 2010, Dean Goldschmidt had not publicly disclosed the existence of the OPKO and MEDNAX stock options. To confirm accuracy and give the Dean the benefit of the doubt, my coauthor wrote to him on July 19 and again on July 28. Finally on July 29, 2010, the university's public Web site did disclose the stock options we had found in the EDGAR database and counted in our calculations (Figure 2).
