Most large series of patients with this entity contain a few examples of onset below age 50. This diagnosis should be made with confidence in younger patients with typical symptoms and laboratory findings, and showing complete suppressions of disease activity with relatively small daily doses (20 mg or less) of corticosteroids.(Arch Intern Med 139:743-744, 1979)
