AB Volume 1 of the second American edition of Roentgen Diagnosis is now available. The first edition appeared in 1954 and quickly was acknowledged as an authoritative work in its field. The new revision is based on the sixth German edition, and H. R. Schinz, the senior author, explains in his foreword that the emphasis of the new opus is directed away from genetic considerations and back to the world of clinical thinking and procedures.The first volume pertains to procedures. Following a lengthy section on roentgenologic fundamentals, the remainder of the book is divided into two sections. The smaller section deals with examinations performed without contrast media, and a longer portion discusses examinations with contrast media. The latter occupies three-fifths of the book, indicating the impact of special procedures (principally vascular studies) on the field of diagnosis in the last decade.The hope of the authors is to make available
