AB This is the ninth edition of a successful textbook produced since 1952 by the Department of Medicine of the University of Edinburgh and associated clinical units. Its commendable qualities are brevity, clarity, and emphasis on the practical. Reading the pages of this volume is akin to sailing rather than slogging.The book makes no attempt to compete with the unrivaled triad of American texts (Harrison, Cecil-Loeb, and Harvey); its main pupose is to present high-points, which makes it especially attractive to students. The book costs only $11.75; it is worth a good deal more.
