Organization and balanced emphasis, important in any book, is difficult to achieve in a multi-authored compendium. The editors accomplish this task by developing physiologic principles, diagnostic studies, and clinical pharmacology in the first half of the text, as prelude to a methodical presentation of clinical disorders of the heart and vascular systems. In general there is little annoying repetition, so commonly encountered in multi-authored books. As one observes the recurring pattern of presentation of each clinical entity, the reader appreciates the control of discerning editors over their contributors.None of the sections are encyclopedic, yet the content of each contribution is of sufficient depth to give the student a worthy measure of current knowledge.
