The average person made 4.3 trips to physicians during the year; an estimated 71.8% of all physician visits took place in a doctor's office. The cost of each visit (including charges for radiographic studies, laboratory tests, and other services) was $7.80. A home visit cost $7.90. A general practitioner was reported as the type of physician seen in about 64% of office visits and 85% of home visits. About 31.9% of the population reported having had no physician visits within the year; 4.3% had 13 or more visits per year.
