JF Archives of Internal Medicine JO Archives of Internal Medicine YR 1969 FD June 1 VO 123 IS 6 SP 732 OP 732 DO 10.1001/archinte.1969.00300160122026 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archinte.1969.00300160122026 AB This comparatively brief text on blood groups and antibodies explains difficult concepts exceedingly well, eg, physiochemical aspects of agglutination, the difference between the theory of Fisher and that of Wiener regarding the Rh locus, and the significance of the recently discovered sex-linked blood group. The chapter on leukocyte antigen is the most detailed general account available on the subject. The book supplements Mollison's Blood Transfusion in Clinical Medicine; in most aspects it is much briefer, but at times it is more detailed. The book should be very valuable to the hematologist interested in immunohematology, blood bank personnel, and students in medical sciences. The illustrations are excellent and the writing skillful and lucid.
