AB Aside from the introductory addresses in the opening of the Ninth International Congress, this volume is divided into six sections and three panel discussions. The subjects include "Diabetes," "Coronary Insufficiency," "Ethnical and Geographical Medicine in the Mediterrean Area," "Risks of Certain Modern Treatment," "Amoebiasis," "Alcohol and Drug Addiction," and "History of Aggravated Risks in Insurance." Topics for panel discussions include pneumology, cardiomyopathies, and hypertension. All but four of the papers are written in English. Contributors came from many countries making this a truly international congress.This book will be of particular value to medical directors of life insurance companies and physicians interested in life expectancies of the disease covered. This reviewer found the panel discussions particularly absorbing. Life insurance companies have long been helpful in gathering statistics, and it is interesting to learn how they have changed their standards for offering life insurance to people who formerly were considered noninsurable
