AB In recent years a series of books of various sizes has appeared dealing with liver disease and presenting both academic and clinical aspects. The question could, therefore, be raised as to the purpose of a new booklet dealing with the same subject. It consists of short articles by 14 groups of workers. The question is even more pertinent since the book represents a reprint from a readily accessible journal.On reading this small book, one is, however, impressed with almost all the articles, which are concise and interesting presentations. On some 140 well-illustrated pages, a surprisingly good review of the recent status of the entire field is presented, with emphasis on what the practicing physician may need. The presentation bears witness to the didactic ability of the authors, who are obviously assisted by the fact that they have lectured on their subject on many occasions. The book can, therefore,
