Herbert (Arch. Int. Med. 110:649-652, 1962), serum folate activity was determined using 1 g. % ascorbic acid (not 1 mg. %).The last sentence of the first paragraph, page 652, correctly reads: "Dividing the 4 1/2 months required for a healthy normal adult male to develop megaloblastic anemia on a diet containing approximately 5μg. of folate per day2 into the figure of 7.5 mg., one arrives at a rough estimate of approximately 50μg. of folic acid per day as the minimal daily requirement."
