AB This is an extremely interesting book for everyone interested in hypertension. The symposium provided a forum where a large number of persons prominent in this field could present data, discuss theories, and debate controversial points. The discussion remarks are reasonably well edited, are presented in detail, and pinpoint the areas of greatest disagreement. The prepared articles range from Page's brilliant, if rambling survey of most of the problems of human hypertension to brief reports of clinical observations. Each is accompanied by both English and French summaries.I consider this volume a very fine addition to the literature on essential hypertension because most of the important theories concerning etiology and treatment of the disease are displayed under a strong light. The book is not concise, but if one wishes to take the time, he can find the best western ideas of these topics. It also is useful as a reference book
