AB The authors have again succeeded in presenting in an interesting and readable manner a text covering the broad field of cardiovascular diseases. The clear, orderly, detailed format of the earlier edition is unchanged. The length, however, has been almost doubled in the process of revising, with the inclusion of the additional knowledge accumulated during the intervening decade. Those who enjoyed the informal, conversational style of the preceding edition, flavored by the author's personal comments consequent to their long and wide clinical experience, will be pleased to find it continued.Insofar as medicine in many respects is indeed an art, it is inevitable that in a work of this large a scope some will find points with which they do not agree. For example, the sweeping claim that "definite relief" of the pain of acute hepatic engorgement follows the proper use of the leeches "in every instance" will find some disbelievers,
