AB Pediatrics includes the growth and development, congenital deformities, all types of trauma and diseases of the young. Therefore condensing all pediatric knowledge into one small volume is admittedly a difficult task. "Synopsis of Pediatrics" was prepared primarily for medical students and general practitioners. Its sixty-two chapters roughly correspond to the sixty hours devoted to didactic pediatrics in the St. Louis University School of Medicine. The author has spent a long professional life in the practice and teaching of pediatrics. The textbook is written from a practical clinical point of view, with major emphasis on office and home diagnosis and treatment. Much less emphasis is placed on the more complicated procedures of the hospital and laboratory.The first nine chapters are devoted to feeding, growth and nutrition. They represent present day knowledge and opinions prevailing in the pediatric profession. Chapters XII to XVIII are devoted to derangements of growth and nutrition.
