RT Journal A1 RYNEARSON EH, SCHWEIGER LR T1 REview of literature on the pituitary body (1938 and 1939) JF Archives of Internal Medicine JO Archives of Internal Medicine YR 1940 FD July 1 VO 66 IS 1 SP 226 OP 290 DO 10.1001/archinte.1940.00190130236013 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archinte.1940.00190130236013 AB This review, as was the last one on this subject,1 is written by and for clinicians. Those who desire a more comprehensive review are referred to the second edition of Van Dyke's book, "The Physiology and Pharmacology of the Pituitary Body."2 Other reviews have been published in the current literature.3We have attempted to list our references under different headings, but overlapping has occurred. There have been errors of omission and commission in selecting these references, and not all of them are of equal importance. It is hoped, however, that the review is sufficiently complete to inform the reader as to current developments and trends in this young and fast changing field of endocrinology.ROLE OF THE PITUITARY BODY IN CARBOHYDRATE METABOLISM  It is exceedingly difficult to separate the discussion of the metabolism of any single food constituent from that of the metabolism of other food constituents.
