The methods pursued are those of the older clinicians. Painstakingly thorough studies of cases or series of cases are made. Every known laboratory aid is used; when necessary, experimentation on animals carries the problems further. What impresses the reader most, however, is the intensity of the clinical investigations.Much of the material consists of the continuation of studies previously outlined in these book reviews. This comprises the more important parts of the volume: Escudero's papers on splenomegalies, latent diabetes and the relations of diabetes to other diseases.Many cases of diabetes have been recognized in the preglycosuric stage.
