Several authors have advocated pharmacologic therapy and have cited the NCEP report.2 However, the NCEP report advocates pharmacologic treatment only for TG concentrations higher than 500 mg/dL. The report advocates lifestyle change for TG concentrations between 150 and 500 mg/dL and says that pharmacologic therapy can be considered in high-risk persons in this group.
