Previous data support a relationship between statin therapy and risk for NOD.2 However, there are controversial results regarding the effect of statins on insulin sensitivity.3 It is important to consider that patients with metabolic syndrome have a 5- to 6-times higher risk for NOD compared with those without metabolic syndrome.4 In this context, could the authors provide data regarding the contribution of metabolic syndrome to the risk of NOD?
