RT Journal A1 Miller LE, Stewart ME T1 SOy isoflavone supplementation in menopausal women JF Archives of Internal Medicine JO Archives of Internal Medicine YR 2011 FD December 12 VO 171 IS 22 SP 2067 OP 2068 DO 10.1001/archinternmed.2011.582 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archinternmed.2011.582 AB Through 2 years, subject attrition rates were 18.8% with soy isoflavone and 34.1% for placebo (P = .008). While the authors state that the baseline characteristics of the subjects who completed the trial were similar to those who withdrew, this explanation is inadequate. Were the reasons for study discontinuation available for comparison? It is unlikely that a discrepancy of this magnitude would occur by chance alone.
