In accord with current National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III (ATP III) guidelines, we believe there is compelling evidence to support the use of statins for primary prevention in patients at high risk (Framingham risk score, >10%) for developing coronary heart disease (CHD) over the next 10 years.2
