Case XXIV (6).—History.
—S. K., a native of Montenegro, aged 39, was admitted to the service of Dr. Slaymaker, April 12, 1908. It was learned through an interpreter that he had been in this country one year, working first as a laborer on a railway for five months, then for two months in Missouri laying pipes. During this time he spent half of each day in a ditch partly filled with water, but declares that he felt perfectly well. The next five months he lived in South Chicago and the last three months he was ill, owing to exposure while looking for work. He lived about two blocks from the lake on the second floor of a frame house built on low ground which was wet and muddy at that time of the year, November, 1907, to March, 1908.
