To the Editor. — Greganti asks, "Where Are the Clinical Role Models?"1 They are still around but, sadly, underrecognized and underutilized by department chairmen and full-time faculty people who believe that teaching can only be done well by those actively engaged in research. Research physicians form role models for students who wish to go into research; they may coincidentally, but not necessarily, provide models for most future physicians. The voluntary "clinical" faculty may supply just such models. The word "clinical" comes from the Greek and means of or pertaining to the sickbed. There are many of us who bear the title "Clinical Professor" proudly.
