ABSTRACT

This is the second edition of a popular paperbook intended for patients with thyroid disease. This book has been cleverly composed and carefully edited. A complete glossary of important terms, drugs, and procedures used in the treatment of patients with thyroid disease has been placed prominently at the beginning of the book. Each chapter begins with a short synopsis of the material to be covered in the next several pages. This allows easy review for the patient, as well as reminding the physician of key points. The chapters are well organized and progress logically from the structure and function of the thyroid gland to the various disease states associated with it.

Thyroid function testing is thoroughly discussed, including historic notes on the progression in this field. Good quality illustrations are liberally sprinkled in with the text (adding to the quality of this book).
