In the October 1981 issue of the Archives there is an interesting article. Rats were exercised and then killed. Their organs were removed to study lactic acid metabolism. Similar experiments were then performed on human volunteers. How many people did it take to hold down these volunteers while their organs were being removed?!! Tsk, tsk, tsk. Wait till Jerry Brown hears about this!!
These letters were transmitted to the MEDICAL NEWS editor, Philip E. Gunby. "The similarity,"reports Gunby, "ends this side of [human] lethality. As described by the California investigators, the studies called for the human participants to give a lot (in terms of exercise) but not their all." —Ed.
