ABSTRACT

Textbooks on various aspects of cardiology have appeared in profusion recently, especially those dealing with electrocardiography and echocardiography. This one is the second edition of Fowler's Cardiac Arrhythmias. Although devoted to both diagnosis and treatment, emphasis is on the latter. It is not the encyclopedic tome of Bellet or the in-depth presentation of Chung. Rather, it is a compact, streamlined, and concise production, all the more remarkable since there are 11 contributors. Some might like more detail about the diagnosis of arrhythmias and in some (though few) cases the electrocardiographic reproductions might have been better. Minor problems. The text is well organized and is easy to read. The chapters on "Atrial and A-V Junctional Tachycardia" and "Treatment of Atrioventricular Block" are especially well done. For the content and price, this book is highly recommended.
