The Nation's Use of Health Resources

ABSTRACT

This new report from the National Center for Health Statistics presents data on the use of ambulatory, hospital, institutional, and home health services in terms of visits, discharges, patient care episodes, and residents. Data where available on the age, sex, color, family income, and diagnostic condition of those receiving care are included. In addition, estimates of the total number of persons served one or more times during the target year, in this case 1973, are presented for various facilities. There are also discussions of the collection, analysis, and potential uses of data from each type of provider.
