This third edition of a book devoted exclusively to all aspects of leukemia is a most pleasant surprise. In contrast to the first two editions, which represented the personal experience of two well-known hematologists, this volume has been extensively revised and greatly improved. The style has been altered and several expert authorities have submitted new chapters.
There are major sections on etiology and pathology; cell kinetics, clinical and laboratory features including cytogenetics, and an excellent section on cytochemistry; treatment of leukemia, with discussions of all of the current classes of drugs; patient management with combination chemotherapy and supportive measures; and a chapter on prognosis.
