ABSTRACT

To the Editor.  —I have been so agreeably basking in the warm glow of the Festschrift that I have not hurried to call attention to some flyspecks and a major error I committed in the Walter Reed paper. On p 823, Jack McGovern by some kind of transfer of enthusiasm came out Bill McGovern. On p 842, Stuart Wolf has me down as a perpetrator and propagator of the K ration. I did not invent it; I avoided using it whenever possible and did not recommend it. The most serious error is one I made in my essay on Walter Reed on p 874. It is that I got an extra zero in the number of deaths from typhoid fever that should be of the order of 1,500 rather than 15,000. It was bad enough as it was without my slipping up on the decimal systems. My good friend, Jim
