Here is another valuable and much needed book describing careful cultivation of mental health and strength. The author's free use of his wide experience is evident throughout its far-reaching extent. What I like most about it is evidence of its composer's comprehensive consideration of the troubled mind.
In my opinion, the author has courageously undertaken some adventurous pioneering in this publication, generally in forthrightness and specifically in including photographs depicting some intimate sexual living. His psychiatrist-reader might be expected to find this latter innovation understandable, even though he must consider it advisable to carefully individualize the use of it.
Jules H. Masserman, of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, in Chicago, presents a goodnatured and thoughtful foreword. Author Holmes follows with a fine preface, personally providing a brief account of the intention and purpose of this work.
