This is the third in a series undertaken by the American Diabetes Association Committee on Professional Education. The purposes of the series are to make available, in condensed and simplified form, the current thinking of major authorities on the primary problems of diabetes mellitus, and to present recent advances in the field. The format has been selected with the idea of making this book useful as a general guide to the practicing physician. It is equally helpful as a learning and reference resource for students or physicians-in-training regardless of specialty. I found this volume to meet these purposes adequately and then some.
