The information contained in this book is readily available from other sources. Even though it was published in 1970, it contains many outdated theories and techniques and has many factual errors. Acquisition of this book by physicians, medical students, paramedical personnel, and libraries cannot be advised. I doubt that it would be helpful to cite specific examples of its inadequacy. However, it might be worth asking is it possible to publish a useful book on a subject now advancing at such a rapid rate?
A book on endocrine function tests might achieve satisfactory timeliness by having its sections prepared by well informed subspecialists; each section could be updated just before publication. With the time required for production and distribution of books these days, this technique will still result in a delay of months to years. Even if the book were satisfactory when purchased, it would need revision in six months
