ABSTRACT

The Immunology of Malignant Disease is an admirable book from several aspects. Harris states in the Preface that the intended readers are "physicians concerned with the management of malignant disease." This group will find the book rewarding within the immunological scope offered. Doubtlessly, many physicians will find the many chemotherapeutic applications and their rationale practical and useful. The book, although modest in length, deserves a much wider audience. Immunologists, virologists, and all investigators interested in cancer will find at least one or two chapters, if not the whole text, an excellent comprehensive review of the subject. Because of the lucid and eloquently written introductory first chapter, "Normal Immune Response in Man and Its Reaction to Malignant Disease," the book is recommended unhesitatingly to medical students as well.
