To the Editor.
—Your selection of symposia subjects for the ARCHIVES is fine, but the writing is terrible—terrible—terrible. I overcame my desire to write when the issue on diabetes appeared last year. Now it seems you will keep this sort of thing going even though you expressed some uncertainty in an editorial on the diabetes issue.Isn't it possible to have a professional writer either rewrite these articles or summarize the contents? It just isn't worth the time to wade through the poorly written, verbose, and overlapping articles. I find myself getting more and more information from the "throw away" journals because they care about my time. I would prefer to get it from established journals such as yours. Please sample the opinions of some competent, conscientious internists who live in your area. Do they actually read these articles? Do these tediously documented, research-laden papers appeal to anyone
