The synopsis, now in its fourth edition, contains an amazingly large amount of information for the physician dealing with children. The volume presents considerable data regarding normal development, in outline form, and the appendix contains useful tables of drug dosage. The arrangement of diseases by systems, together with an excellent index, makes the book highly usable. For the most part, the content is current, although in some sections material from previous editions has been repeated and does not reflect current thought. This is more true of theoretical considerations than practical therapeutics.
Given the difficulties of attempting to cover such a broad field, the authors have been successful in bringing together a vast amount of information in one small volume.
