This book has been translated from German into French which is readily understandable by any physician who has had, say, two years of high school instruction in that language. This is because the authors have emphasized the iconography and minimized the written word; further the medical vocabulary which comprises the larger portion of the text is almost identical to the English.
The book is beautifully printed and is well bound. The quality of the photographs is excellent, particularly the black and whites, although the exposures were made in hospitals and not under the ideal circumstances of a photographic atelier. There is, in my view, too much blue in the reproductions, which nevertheless are of high quality, especially considering the reasonable price of the atlas. There are many pictures of skin lesions, but it is by no means solely a dermatologic book. There is much which concerns the buccal cavity, eye,
