This publication is the tenth volume of the scientific proceedings of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis published yearly as Science and Psychoanalysis with the subtitle covering the central theme of each meeting. To celebrate its decennial anniversary the academy selected "possibly the most arcane, neglected or previously misconstrued subject in all of psychoanalysis": The Psychology and Sexuality of Women. It is divided into four parts which cover the "Classical Aspects," "Development and Psychosomatic Aspects," "Clinical Considerations," and "Social Aspects." In addition there are several interesting chapters on the present status of psychoanalysis in America and the role which the academy is playing in its development.
There is some unevenness and mediocrity in the presentations, as is not uncommon with the multiple symposia published these days. And some of the editing is slipshod, eg, incomplete and faulty references after one of the papers such as "Altmann, M., Knowles, F., and Bull,
