Since I first learned of Howard Behrman's book I have looked forward to it with pleasant anticipation. As with so many things in life, the reality, though good, does not quite live up to the expectations.
The general format of the book is excellent and the execution seems near perfect so far as the mechanics of printing a book are concerned. The use of color photographs throughout is of tremendous value. Some of the photographs were poorly chosen for a book intended for nondermatologists, the extreme and questionable pityriasis rosea and the bullous sunburn being examples of illustrations of no particular value to a general practitioner.
Since no two authors will ever agree on exactly which diseases should be included in a text such as this, no fault can be found here, in fact, the list of diseases here is very nearly the list I would compile. Similarly, one may
