This novel and interesting book is described as a learning program for students of the biological and medical sciences. Part one of this volume, "pH and Dissociation," is published separately and is presently in its second edition (1964). The other parts are: "Sodium and Chloride Distribution," "Potassium and the Cellular Compartment," "Calcium and Phosphorus," "Gas Transport," "Metabolic and Respiratory Aspects of Neutrality Regulation," and lastly, "Renal Correction of the Neutrality."
The author, in the preface, gives very clear steps for the use of the guide for programmed teaching and makes several worthwhile suggestions as to parallel reading on the subject under discussion. He points out that this volume is not a substitute for other methods of teaching, but is an additional method.
